Uchawi wa Afrika

Beautiful Accommodation in North-Eastern South Africa in the Mpumalanga province – Marloth Park

Welcome to Uchawi wa Afrika

Uchawi wa Afrika literally means ‘the magic of Africa’.
And so it started … Almost 20 years ago we went to Africa for the first time. Initially the two of us, later also with our children. Africa had a deep impact on us: the light, the sky, the colours, smells and sounds, the people and animals.

Meanwhile we have seen many parts of southern Africa, have travelled a lot and experienced magical moments, including sunrise and sunset when the colors are at their best: magic hour!
During one of our trips we ended up in Marloth Park: a piece of paradise on earth. For us this is where everything came together: living between wild animals in a beautiful bush villa with a breath-taking setting, only a few hundred meters from the famous Kruger National Park. We wish that your stay in our house will give your own lasting experience of magical Africa.

The adventure begins at Uchawi as where else you can have a zebra drinking or a kudu eating while you relax in the pool? Wild animals, but in Marloth Park they literally eat out of your hand.

When you arrive, Adele will welcome you showing you the house and handing over the keys. If so desired, the fridge is filled with basic products so that you can relax immediately.
Adele is also your point of contact for (extra) cleaning, linen good or if something is broken or malfunctioning. Of course, she is also happy to answer all your questions.

The other two rooms share a bathroom with a double sink and a walk-in shower. The toilet is separate and outside of the bathroom. These two bedrooms also share a second outdoor shower located directly outside the sliding doors.

The family room has a loft, with two single beds, from where you can see directly into the Kruger Park and over the parkland. We bet your children or other occupants will have a real safari experience here!
All rooms have sliding doors onto the wooden deck allowing to enjoy a fantastic view on the bush from every bed.

The house faces the rear and has an unobstructed view of the parkland. The wooden deck runs along the entire rear façade. A covered area allows you to enjoy the African country life every day, regardless of the season or weather. You can comfortably lounge here by a cosy fire or enjoy a braai.

When leaving the (rental) parking garage at O.R. Tambo, follow the directions to Boksburg (signs already in the garage!). Then take the N12 towards eMalahleni and from there follow the N4 direction Mbombela (Nelspruit) towards Marloth Park.

Don’t forget to visit the Alzu petrol station on the N4 between Middelburg and Belfast (about 40 km behind Middelburg and after approx. 1.5 hour of driving) for a first and surprising African encounter.

The N4 is a toll road where toll must be paid three times, totaling up to around 225 Rand. This must be paid either in cash (foreign cards are not accepted). If your (rental) car has a toll tag, you can use the “TAGS ONLY” lane at the toll booths.
Always observe the speed limit! There are many many traffic controls on the roads.
To reach Marloth Park, do not take the first exit to Marloth Park from the N4, but rather follow the N4 for another four kilometers and then turn left towards ‘Ten Bosch’. From there it is another 8.7 kilometers to the entrance of Marloth Park.

Coming from (the direction of) Swaziland or Mozambique? Then take the N4 direction Mbombela in Komatipoort. Turn right after about 25 kilometers to ‘Ten Bosch/Marloth Park’. After 8.7 kilometers you will reach the entrance to Marloth Park.

You enter the Park driving in Olifant Street. Continue with Olifants for about 1 km till you find Soenie Street on your right. Uchawi is around 200 m further on the gravel road, on your left.
