ThornForest House
was built by Kruger Park enthusiasts who enjoy sharing their love of nature and were dissatisfied at how the Kruger National Park accommodation has degenerated. The concept is to provide comfortable and clean accommodation close to the Kruger National Park for those who want to experience life in the bush with wildlife on your doorstep.
ThornForest is a spacious and luxurious guest house in the Marloth Park wildlife conservancy. We provide clean, comfortable and affordable accommodation with extra touches that will make your holiday break a wonderful experience for family and friends.
The conservancy rests on the southern banks of the Crocodile River bordering the iconic Kruger National Park where animals roam free. It is a mere 20 minutes drive from Crocodile Bridge Gate.
ThornForest is Equipped with a hybrid solar system, gas geysers and a large Gas Smeg stove. ThornForest is positioned to navigate the electrical service interruptions which currently interfere with our daily lives.
The house boasts a great central area, with a large flat screen smart TV DSTV and uncapped WIFI. Four well appointed, en-suite and air-conditioned rooms await your arrival.
Fantastic outdoor entertaining space for the quintessential braai and a sparkling pool to cool off in after the day’s adventure.
Safety is important and provides for peace of mind. Fire extinguishers are located throughout the house, two fire blankets are provided. Emergency evacuation plans and signs are mapped out too.

The Heart of the Home.
Off the central patio, the large air conditioned, open plan area has lounge, dining room and kitchen. The lounge area is setup into two different conversation areas, cosy and comfortable seating, to quietly read a book. Watch TV, quietly chat or play board games, great TOGETHER time.
A splendid dining table to be decked with plates of sharing, sharing of stories, love and food.
The open plan kitchen is set to be inclusive. Inclusive of those in and out of the kitchen. The kitchen is where the fun is. A dishwasher, large fridge/ freezer with water dispenser, a microwave and a 90 cm gas hob and oven SMEG stove is just the place to whip up the salads for the braai or cook up a storm. Memorable meals are waiting to be created.
The scullery is separate from the prep area and you will find the dishwasher and microwave there.
The Great Outdoors
For those that love being outside in the bush, ThornForest is the best place to be. Having a comfortable chair, a convenient view point and a great outdoor fire facility or two are more than essential in the bush. ThornForest has a superb entertainment area, set on the edge of the forest.
A sparkling plunge pool with martini seats set just off the main patio is ideally located to watch the African sunset and keep an eye on the evening braai fire. No better place to be on a hot summer’s night.
Two braais and an outside sink, just perfect. Enjoy sharing your day’s adventures around the fire pit, listening to the night sounds of the evening bush, both lesser and thick tailed bushbabies accompany the sounds of the alarm calls of the buck. The roar of the king of the jungle is heard regularly, and occasionally the grunts of the hippo in the river. If you are super lucky, a southern white faced owl may pay you a visit.
A gazebo provides cover and a dining table for meals, relaxation and drinks under the canopy of indigenous trees. Relax and watch the plains animals, kudu, zebra, impala, blue wildebeest, bushbuck and duiker wander by on their daily search for food. Mischievous little vervet monkey pop in to entertain you with their acrobatics and antics. The ostrich and giraffe are also known to visit ThornForest.
Thorn Forest:
Low Season @ R2 200.00 per night.
High Season @ R2 400.00 per night over long weekends and school holidays.
Peak Season @ R 3 000.00 per night over December and January periods.

ThornForest is situated in an indigenous forest at 2208 Sekelbos Drive Marloth Park.
Marloth Park is a wildlife conservation area where the animals roam free.
The bed and breakfast is located 20 km from Kruger National Park, and the location offers access to a wealth of heritage and scenic sites nearby, and close enough to visit neighbouring Swaziland and Mozambique.
